The Whale Coast Mall was design by Bentel International and is an architectural gem with award-winning design. This asset to the local community, has created various job opportunities and provides crucial services to the surrounding areas, such as Fisherhaven, Vermont, Onrus and Hermanus.
The total GLA of the mall is just under 30, 000m² with a total of 88 shops.
With the location at the foot of the Hemel-en-Aarde Estate in Hermanus, it takes a constant beating from the marine environment and salt laden air. As the airflow circulates into the mountain and back to the coast, it creates a constant corrosive environment in this area.
The architectural team decided on specifying COLORBOND® ULTRA MATT AZ200 for this project, based on the real life performance data, which shows that COLORBOND® Steel was designed for harsh marine and highly corrosive environments.
